Joanna Linkchorst, president of Friends of Rockhaven, will share the history and significance of the former women-only sanitarium located in Glendale, CA. This feminist institution for mentally ill women was founded in 1923 as an antidote to the prison-like atmospheres of the asylums of the time. Linkchorst will discuss the legacy of founder Agnes Richards and current ownership and care of the historic site.
